I boarded a plane this morning from Nashville and landed in North Carolina for a concert with the fine folks in High Point, NC. Little did I know what kind of crowd was going to show up at the Weslayan Church tonight! They were amazing, so much fun. There's a part of me that feels like I wish I could have some dress rehearsal concerts before I'm in front of a big crowd; just because it's been so long. But nothin' like being thrown right out there. Tonight, however wasn't scary at all. The crowd was so awesome right from the beginning, I felt like I was doing a concert in my living room for Lulu and Earl!Tried out some new tunes tonight, which was fun for me. Hopefully, it was fun for those listening to the new tunes as well... "Something to Say," won't be in stores until 1/15/08 (don't forget...) so I can't wait that long to play new tunes.
But something really cool happened at the very end of the show. The band began playing "Next Thing You Know," and next thing I know kids started jumping up on this platform that was the front of the stage. I found myself surrounded by about 100 kids jumping up and down singing "la la la la la la."
It was awesome. Such joy. And it all started with just one girl, one very brave girl who didn't care what anyone thought. She just jumped up and did her thing. Everyone else followed!
So, thanks to the leader of the jumping pack for your enthusiasm, and thanks to everybody for coming out to my first show in NC post-surgery. My voice feels good. tired but good -mw
You were AMAZING that night! I had just gotten back from a Cross Country meet and I didn't think I was gonna make it to your show, but I was so excited I did. I'm glad your surgery turned out well! You sounded fantastic! God Bless!!
A Very Very Big Fan,
Tai
