On The Eve of Turkey
A Poem by Matthew West
On the Eve of Turkey I wait and I wait
For the chance to see mountains of food on my plate
"What will I eat first?" A good question to ask
There will be so much food, am I up to the task?
The butter will melt and the gravy will pour
Those who used to count calories now with glee will shout, "MORE!"
Sweet Potatoes are better with marshmallows too
I apologize early if there's none left for you
So much stuffing to savor and turkey to taste
I'll be wearing my pants with the elastic waist
On the eve of Turkey this advice I must pass
Don't get too close to Grandpa, he'll probably have gas
Happy Thanksgiving!
